Having started every Vendée Globe since the 2004-2005 race, Jean Pierre Dick is a familiar, immediately recognisable face on the Port Olona pontoons pre-start. But the skipper who has just completed his sixth two-handed Imoca victory when he recently won the Transat Jacques Vabre to Salvador de Bahia with Yann Eliès will not be starting the Vendée Globe again. As far as the legendary solo non stop race around the world is concerned he has hung up his foul weather gear and instead, through his company Absolute Dreamer, will run Eliès project.
