Captain’s log, T. de Lamotte: " Up the mast later today "

Hello hello,

What a rough night it has been on board Initiatives-cœur! I’m glad I wasn’t scheduled in today’s list of live interviews…

I think I’m still in the process of slowly recovering from the change of rhythm now that we have left the Southern Ocean! Because when we were there, we had ice gates and precise goals to deal with every 4 or 5 days. Now, things have been going much faster since we rounded Cape Horn. We’re talking about the race finish (in 7,000 miles!) and the Equator, but these goals are still so far way, especially with the speed that is getting slower and slower…

My brain had gotten used to another pace and I think it’s taking quite long to get used to this new sunny and pleasant environment again. It feels like the end of the winter to me, I’m recovering from that, thinking of the equator in 1,500 miles…

I’ve enjoyed following the Australian Open thanks to a friend of mine who is working there as a journalist and who keeps me updated by mail. Thanks, Miss Down Under! Jérémie Chardy has done well until but fell to Murray and Jo Wi Tsonga (I heard that’s what they call him there) is having a tight match against Federer. Let’s go Jo-Wi!!! And there’s a handball match tonight, too…

This morning I had a nice breakfast with rasperry biscuits and coffee. We’re approaching Brazil and I may climb up the mast later today to replace a halyard if the sea is calm enough. To be continued…
