Captain’s log, A. Boissières: " Tired but determined "

I have to admit I’m definitely tired but no worries, I’m fine. It’s more like a nervous kind of tiredness because of how unreliable the weather files have been lately. What a tough disappointment for Jean-Pierre Dick this morning, even though he had one of the best-prepared boats in the fleet…  It looks like if you want to finish third in the Vendée Globe, you need to finish without your keel, like Marc (Guillemot) did in 2009 and Mike (Golding) four years before. I can’t really tell you what my current speed is, it wouldn’t mean anything because i twill change in three hours…

I looked at my sailing history on the computer and I realised I never stayed at the same speed for more than three hours. I guess I’m also tired because of the oil rigs I saw yesterday, that was very stressful. It’s great to see some of them but it’s weird to find yourself among them, in the middle of the night under heavy rain. So I’m tired but determined!

Apart from that, everything is fine on board, I’m really careful with food and it’s so chaotic that it’s been hard to fall asleep. But we all know sailing in the Atlantic is never easy…
