We had a problem with the starboard rudder at around 7 this morning. On port tack, i.e. with the starboard rudder doing the work, with full main, A3 and staysail in 20 kts of breeze the boat suddenly rounded up and would not recover even when the sails were released. we managed to get going again but the boat was unsteerable. On rounding up again we furled the A3 and lower the staysail. A visual check showed the rudder was not connected to the steering system.
