Bertrand de Broc crossed the longitude of "the rock" at 7.02PM (French time), which came as a reward for the perseverance of the Votre Nom autour du Monde avec EDM Projets.
Bertrand started the 2012-2013 Vendée Globe after a preparation that was shortened by the delayed launch of his project. And even then, he was forced to come back to the Sables d'Olonne port after a collision with one of his team's boats. He eventually left the Vendée port 20 hours after the other skippers and then saw many good weather opportunities disappear in front of him throughout the race.
Yet the French sailor never gave up and his goal is now to make it to the finish line to honour the trust of all the people who believed in him and his project. Cape Horn comes as a perfect reminder that all Vendée Globe skippers deserve the same level of respect, whether they round it the first or the last position. And that is precisely what makes the Everest of the Seas unique.
