“I am upwind here which was just not what I expected. I am half wondering if I should do something different but it can just be a local effect from the Beagle Channel, so I will decide when I have a clearer idea of what’s going on.
I came in from Diego Ramirez Island and calling the layline from 30 miles in these conditions is not easy, so in the end I had to do two more gybes. And in the end I went round when it was just getting dark, on starboard gybe. The seas were very big and lumpy, I feel like I have made good progress. I have gained slightly on Dominique and bridged the gap to Jean.
Now the water is quite flat, it is good to be in the Atlantic for sure, a relief.”
