"I really like to have a competitor in my sight. I’ve been able to see Damien Seguin since this morning on the AIS and now I can see him because he is only 2 miles behind me. We have gybed almost at the same time. It's good to know that he is nearby. We're going to get through the fight together today.
I am expecting 35 knots of wind gusting to 40-45 knots. We've got 12 fairly strong hours ahead of us and after that it should calm down until Cape Leeuwin where we'll have another low. The rest of the Indian Ocean should be more manageable. Today we have to hang on a little longer, it's going to be a day under my J3 sail with 2 reefs in the mainsail.
Emotionally, it's going OK, but that wasn't the case two days ago. I felt lonely at sea, the emotions become much stronger with the solitude and the lack of sleep. I always sail with the same philosophy of being very careful. I sleep with one eye open. Last night there were squalls at 40 knots so I didn’t have a proper rest. You always have to be vigilant. I really miss having my J2. I should be able to fix it when there is less wind. "
