“ The cardboard cover on Merci is falling apart pretty quickly, after the boom and mainsail fell onto it on the third day. The most damaged section of it is now soaked through with water and has given way to create a gaping hole. It's like having a sunroof! Since the damage the other day I know it’s only a matter of time before it is completely destroyed. I would have liked it to last until the Southern Ocean but I’m afraid it’s not looking likely…
In any case, this project has been really exciting to carry out and what's great is that it’s got people talking and thinking about it, which will hopefully help push the boundaries going forward.”
