During this February holiday period when most IMOCAs are still in the yard undergoing their winter refit, many of the Vendée Globe solo skippers, their teams and families, take a welcome opportunity to disconnect from the pressures of boatwork, planning, business and the stress of keeping everything rolling to schedule. One of the favourite destinations is the mountains for snowsports while others opt for adventurous, far flung destinations in keeping with the wanderlust that infects many solo sailors.
