
The teams have been racing for just over 5 days with another estimated 10 excruciating days in the Southern Ocean to go. There's one important thing to remember about this leg and that is it’s a double points leg, and there’s a bonus point for the first boat to pass Cape Horn. So there are enough points at stake for teams to be mathematically out of contention by Brazil... Brush up on your point scoring knowledge with this article.

Team AkzoNobel lost the lead overnight and this stunning picture of Martine Grael was taken shortly afterwards.

In this video shot by Onboard Reporter Martin Keruzore onboard Dongfeng, young sailor Jack Bouttell tells us about an injury he sustained when he was thrown around by a gigantic wave. A good video that gives us a rare insight into life as a bowman.

Just as we're writing this a bunch of shots from Team Brunel just landed in RAW including this one of Abby Ehler jumping over the sheets to get to the mast after a gybe. Courtesy of Onboard Reporter Yann Riou.
