Jean-Pierre Dick may be fighting for a podium spot, he is still happy to enjoy both the competition and his passion: « It's just magical here, beautiful but stressful too. This wilderness can be magnificent but you know there's a risk of icebergs, as well as the possibility to face amazing animals in the Southern Ocean. It's a unique privilege! »
As he is about to enter the third ocean in this Vendée Globe, the Virbac Paprec 3 skipper analyses this new step in the race: « Entering the Pacific Ocean at this time of the year is not too bad, even though you have to keep an eye on the huge Australian depressions coming to the Pacific. The swell can be pretty long and strong. It isn't as foggy and as unpredictable as the Indian Ocean. The most impressive thing about it is realising you're in the middle of nowhere, 3,000 or 4,000 kilometres away from the nearest coast. »
