Two in the Pacific

In the 12 noon (UTC+1) rankings, two of the Vendée Globe skippers had sailed across the 146°55' E longitude marking the border between the Indian and the Pacific Oceans. Armel Le Cléac'h was the first to enter the Pacific at 8.08AM (UTC+1), followed by François Gabart (8.24AM UTC+1). They're now done with the Indian Ocean and will start the great crossing that will take them to Cape Horn.

Once in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the Vendée Globe skippers will be 2,200 miles – 8 days at sea – away from the closest land so they have o choice but to rely on themselves.

Note: Thank you to Olivier Chapuis for his research work to precisely determine the longitude of the Pacific entry.
