Nervous moments for Javier Sanso

Hello.

Today I collided with an object that I haven't been able to see but I could definitely hear it. I saw orange object floating behind me in the wake of the boat. I immediately thought that it was a broken rudder but now I think it is one of the caps that is on the keel, under the hull, designed to make sure there is less resistance to the water around the whole keel area.

The boat isn’t making any kind of strange vibration, nor has it reduced its speed. There is also the chance that I might have hit something floating that is orange.

Once I get to an area of calmer water, I will go into the water to check the area of impact. I have looked with the endoscope but haven’t been able to see the area where the keel joins the hull very well.

The whole thing has given me quite a shock, and I even furled the jib-top thinking I had lost a rudder. Also, it actually happened in an area very close to where I lost it in 2000.

Besides everything, I am still making good speed and on a good heading towards the next ice gate.

I commenti sono chiusi.
