At dawn this morning Dominique Wavre (Mirabaud) found none other than Jean Le Cam (SynerCiel) right on his transom. It’s something of an unlikely rendezvous in the Indian Ocean which underlines just how close the battles are between the group of three – Mike Golding, Le Cam and Wavre.
But so too at the front of the fleet, new race leader Bernard Stamm reports this morning that he passed a mile or two ahead of Macif last night, watching the cross on AIS.
“Last night I saw Macif’s AIS signal and he crossed only a mile or two behind me, incredible after a few weeks of racing. We were together in Niort a few days before the start, enjoying an evening together, I suppose little expecting that we’d be so close a few weeks into the race. It’s huge!”
