Sam Davies expected in Les Sables on Sunday

After retiring from the race following her dismasting on November 15 off the coast of Madeira, Sam Davies is currently in the process of taking her monohull back to France. She and her boat captain Erwan Lemeilleur have rigged a jury mast on the boat so they do not have to use the engine all the time.

Savéol left Cascais in the evening of Sunday, Decembre 2 and is expected in the Sables d'Olonne's Port Olonna marina on Sunday December 9 at 2.30PM (high tide), just like Jérémie Béyou ad his Maître CoQ. Beyond her terrible frustration of not being able to complete her round-the-world adventure, Sam wants her arrival in Les Sables d'Olonne to mark the end of the Vendée Globe with her loved ones around her. She can then move on and look towards the future.

Sam's project manager Xavier David checked with Savéol's co-partners and he said there was « a strong rallying to allow Sam to put a new mast on her boat as soon as possible so she can be back to training for the 2013 IMOCA season and get ready for new ambitious adventures in the long term ».
