On Wednesday, at 10.30PM after a last furious battle through the Bay of Biscay, Bernard Stamm (Cheminées Poujoulat) arrived back in Les Sables d’Olonne. The Swiss skipper eventually managed to complete his circumnavigation after being disqualified for receiving outside assistance. Many people had gathered along the channel to greet him, just like they had for the other Vendée Globe skippers. Stamm waited until Mike Golding started sailing through the Sables d'Olonne Channel to let the British sailor enjoy the public's warm welcome.
