Captain’s log, A. Boissières: " Too unfair! "

« My code zero sail just died last night at 4AM (UTC), it’s completely delaminated. I heard a big flapping noise and all I could do was get it back because at least it didn’t explode. I gently rolled it up and now it’s in its bag… Forever. I’m glad I could get it all back, though. It cost me two hours in the end and it could be problematic until the Equator and through the doldrums but I’m not even sure of it. I do have my genoa to make up for it.

It’s still pretty unstable conditions out there. First we had northerly wind and now it’s very weak trade winds. It’s too unfair! I need to change sails every five minutes, even though it’s been better since morning. But last night was a nightmare. We’re back on trac know, i’m currently sailing at 11 knots, which isn’t that great. The speed is between 5 and 15 knots. The weather is nice but the sea is calm. We have to make do with what we have, and we’ll see what the doldrums have in store for us. »
