The first words from Arnaud Boissières after crossing the finish line "It was an amazing race intense I feel like I was always in touch. I expected a little more but because the level is very high and the preparation of the boats high too. Behind the leaders we were also in a fight, that's what made the race so great, but that's also why I'm so tired. We had a great race especially with Alan (Roura) from Cape Horn. That is what I was looking for.

French skipper Arnaud Boissières crossed the finish line at 08h 56min 06s this thursday 11th February to take 15^th place in the ninth edition of the Vendée Globe. In so doing the 48 years old native of Arcachon who has lived in Les Sables d’Olonne since before his first Vendée Globe race becomes the first ever skipper to complete the solo non stop round the world race four consecutive times.

Arnaud Boissieres reported to the Race HQ today, "The night was pretty tough I had gusts of 45 knots I had some good surfs dodging the cargo ships  because the wind was shifted to take us in by the Ushant - Cape Finisterre TSS but now the weather has dropped. And now it is a little upwind-ish. The weather is good and great for sailing, there is sun, very few clouds and my course is towards Arcachon!

Pip Hare explains how she has been affected by her fractional halyard lock strop failing, "Things that go bang in the night are never a good thing for a Vendee skipper and tonight on Medallia we had a big bang. This, big bang, was not the start of anything but instead the end of my fractional gennaker halyard lock, which let go while I was charging along at 18knots.
