Captain’s Log – Jean Le Cam: "Pacific my foot!"

“Last night took the cake. The boat has hammered in several waves; there was water everywhere in the cockpit. I thought we had reached the top but I was wrong. Pacific my foot! I went to bed for an hour only as the black squalls kept on coming! Normally it should be better sooner or later. I feel like I’m saying that all day long. I just made my last jibe, now it's straight forward to the Horn. Coming from the north, it should do it with the ice. When you sail single-handed, you only look forward 10 minutes a day. The rest of the time, you look backward to see what will fall on your nose. Since the beginning of the race, my AIS is on 24/7. As I approach Chile’s coast, I could cross some fishing boats.”
