Captain’s log, J. Sanso: " It all worked out perfectly "

Hello everyone from ACCIONA 100% EcoPowered!

We are right in the middle of the low pressure system that is between us and Cape Horn, the wind is very unstable (between 21 and 40 knots) making it quite difficult to find a good balance. The wind is gradually increasing, I have had an hour where it hasn’t been under 35 knots and then it will go through a stage where it won’t top 22, to then shoot up to 32-35 knots again without becoming a real squall. We still have quite a few more hours of this ahead of us, so we just have to put up with it.

Life on board is pretty complicated but well, it can be done… For the first time in the whole race I have closed all the water-tight compartments on the boat and the main hatch.

Yesterday was a very favourable day. I was able to charge the batteries 100%, something I hadn’t been able to do for about six days. They were at 97% but not at 100, and I had the hydro-generators on a few hours to help the solar panels. Finally it all worked out perfectly and between both, I got the batteries to 100% and I was even able to make some water with the water-maker.

Best wishes to all!
