The unveiling of the brand new IMOCA L’Occitane caused considerable excitement and interest because of the design choices made by skipper Armel Tripon in collaboration with designer Sam Manuard. It is the first IMOCA for Manuard who has been very successful with his Class 40 Mach line and in the Mini 650 class where he really cut his teeth. Built by the Black Pepper shipyard© the new IMOCA follows scow shaped lines, similar to Manuard’s recent Class 40s and his Minis. With a rounded, voluminous bow shape, there is by far the most radical design to follow this new path. It is a serious conviction but perhaps this is a design which others will follow in the future.
(Actualité) – Armel Tripon “This is a carefully considered project.”
