Sunday is start day in Cape Town and the forecast is for strong, gusty winds near 35 knots. This follows Saturday where the wind in the V+A Waterfront was a steady 35-40 knots, with stronger gusts.

That’s plenty of breeze, even for the best sailors in the world.

It will make for a challenging start, as the teams negotiate a short triangle course before departing for the open ocean and a dive to the south to hook up with the first Southern Ocean weather system of the race.
